VIRGINIO BRIATORE

Born in 1955, he grew up on the Riviera di Ponente and studied philosophy at Genoa University.

Between 1976 and 1986 he worked and travelled in Europe, Africa and North America moving then to a small trullo in Puglia located in the countryside near Ceglie Messapica, where he lived until 1990.

In 1986 he set up the Atlantide studio in Lecce with other professionals, and founded the monthly magazine ‘For You’. He followed this by working in Treviso until 1995, as a copywriter.

During this period he spent the winters travelling through the seven states of Southern Central India until finally reaching Varanasi.

Since 1995, he has worked in Milan and lives in Ravenna with his wife Rita and children Luigi (1996) and Valentino (1998).

With his work as a design philosopher he tries to understand and explain the influence that design has on the existence of human beings.

He has held workshops and seminars on these topics both in Italy and abroad, has published 11 books and 450 articles, as well as coordinated research and e-competitions for Lavazza, Epson, Samsung, Citroën, Martini&Rossi, JVC, Dainese, Guzzini, Safilo and Panasonic.

He writes for Interni, D. La Repubblica delle Donne, DAMn°(Brussels), and atcasa.corriere.it.

He is a design philosopher and observer of contemporary languages.
