Lavazza continues its path of excellence by promoting the culture of Italian espresso. This path, which we have long adopted as our company philosophy, improves every day through contact with the market. Today, it has also made a major step with the certification that our Quality Management System complies with ISO 9001:2008 standards.

Lavazza’s industrial system is composed of 4 plants, all located in Italy:
    • the TURIN PLANT and the VERRÈS PLANT, in the Valle d’Aosta, both dedicated to roasting and packaging of roast and ground products
    • THE GATTINARA PLANT dedicated to closed system products, such as Lavazza Espresso Point, Lavazza BLUE and Lavazza A Modo Mio capsules, in the province of Vercelli
    • THE POZZILLI Mokadec PLANT, dedicated to decaffeination, located in Pozzilli, in the province of Isernia.
In June 1994, the TURIN PLANT, the company’s largest production site, was awarded the ISO 9003 certification for quality controls and final testing. In October 1997, it obtained the ISO 9001 Quality Management System certification.

This certification:
- requires procedures to be defined, identifying authorities, responsibilities and courses of action, provides assurance that activities and products meet requirements and establishes that documentation is kept of the controls carried out for all stages of production, ensures that all non-conformities are identified and removed.

It also sets out formally the vocational training activity and requirements.

In 2006 the POZZILLI PLANT was awarded ISO 9001 certification, for the decaffeination process.

All the plants comply with environmental standards, and the certifications obtained (the integrated environmental IPPC certification for the TURIN plant, and the EMAS environmental certificate for the VERRÈS plant) confirm Lavazza’s high regard for ecological issues.

Lavazza quality continues also after completion of the production cycle: it extends to coffee preparation and consumption, through “coffee culture” activities aimed at coffee consumers and food service professionals worldwide with the courses organised by the Training Center.

The aim is clear: quality consumption.
