THE PLANTS
LAVAZZA’S PRODUCTION SYSTEM
Lavazza’s industrial system is composed of four sites, all located in Italy:
- the TURIN PLANT and the VERRÈS PLANT both dedicated to the roasting and packaging of roast and ground products
- the GATTINARA PLANT dedicated to products for the Lavazza Espresso Point, Lavazza BLUE and Lavazza A Modo Mio (capsules) espresso systems
- the POZZILLI PLANT, dedicated to decaffeination
All the plants comply with environmental standards, and the certifications obtained (the integrated environmental IPPC certification for the Turin plant, and the EMAS environmental certificate for the Verrès plant) confirm Lavazza’s high regard for ecological issues.

Investments

This investment is also linked to developing the innovative LAVAZZA BLUE and A Modo Mio professional espresso preparation systems, for home consumption.
PLANT VERRÈS

The relation between Lavazza and the city of Verrès started 23 years ago — in 1989 Lavazza took over the majority stake in Coinca, an old Piedmont company that was a member of the Sao Caffè Consortium and that later moved to the region of Valle d’Aosta.
Today, more than 20 years later, Verrès is the second-largest coffee production facility in Italy after Lavazza’s Turin plant, with 17,000 tons of coffee being processed each year mainly dedicated to blends for the domestic market and special products destined to be shipped abroad.
In 2003, the plant obtained the EMAS registration (Eco Management and Audit Scheme), aimed at the continuous improvement of its environmental performance.
PLANT POZZILLI
Via Cerqueto - POZZILLI (Isernia), ITALY
Tel +39 0865 927328 - Fax +39 0865 927182
Established in 1991, the plant in Pozzilli is exclusively dedicated to green coffee decaffeination. It adopts a natural decaffeination method, using carbon dioxide under specific pressure and temperature conditions (so called supercritical conditions) that make it reach an intermediate state between a liquid and a gas. In these conditions it exhibits an extremely high level of selectivity when extracting the caffeine, leaving all the other components of the coffee bean intact.
Natural, because it is based on the action of a compound present in the air we breathe and in the carbonated water we drink. Selective, because it leaves all the other properties of the coffee intact.
The POZZILLI PLANT has obtained certificates of conformity to attest its processing methods comply with EU regulations and the National Organic Program and Organic Production Act of 1990 regulating the production and biologic transformation of products sold on the American market.
