GREEN COFFEE AND BLENDS
The lab sets the standards for green coffee bought by Lavazza, and staff travel to the producing countries in order to carry out constant monitoring of the crops. Incoming batches are checked according to technical specifications, in compliance with applicable laws (physical checking of beans, defect test etc).

The process:
  • Regular tasting of all coffee origins on arrival at the factory
  • Offer to purchase
  • Checks before loading (pre-shipment samples) the container
  • Samples tested in Italy before unloading
  • Unloading in Italy
  • Arrival at the factory
Product Development
This department formulates the blends:
  • Constant tasting of roasted coffee blends produced
  • Outlining of production methods and line checks
  • Monitoring of products, equipment and systems in the retail and food service markets
  • Responsible for managing taste tests by internal and external tasting panels
