SLOW FOOD
A winning combination since 1996
The partnership between Lavazza and the Slow Food association, founded by food guru Carlo Petrini, is now almost legendary. The success of this alliance between two enterprises based in Piedmont rests on their shared ethics and intentions for food.

Since Lavazza's first involvement as official sponsor of the first "Salone del Gusto", until its contribution to the "Terra Madre" convention, Lavazza and Slow Food have always enjoyed a mutual understanding.

To give an idea of the strength of this alliance, we need only cite Lavazza's involvement through the years with the "Salone del Gusto" food fair. In recent editions, Lavazza has given visitors to the fair the chance to meet high-profile guests like Ferran Adrià, and many have had the opportunity to take part in the countless coffee workshops led by the creative Catalan chef.

Lavazza's relationship with Slow Food has also led to it becoming one of the main supporters of the world's first university specialising in Gastronomic Science, by contributing to an establishment that is unique both in terms of the excellent service it provides, and the internationally acclaimed lecturers who teach there.

Each year the Lavazza Training Centre in Turin, which the University has chosen to host its specialist coffee courses, welcomes 70 students. The honorary lecturers on the courses are Lavazza managers, who show the students various aspects of company strategy enabling them to fully understand the strategic and creative process that goes into making a cup of espresso — one of Italy's most symbolic exports.
